Self Containment Certification

English caravans have no fitted tanks and come with portable fresh and grey water tanks, which have wheels on them. This is convenient for when the vehicle is stationary for longer than a couple of days.
A few years ago we developed a unique set-up for the waste system with an alarm that warns occupants when the tank is full. The waste is stored into a sealed portable tank, which when full sets the alarm, but only when the pump is being used. Turn the tap off and the alarm switches off. The caravan is fitted with all the necessary traps required, according to the Self Containment Guidelines. This includes a shut off valve fitted on the outside of the caravan. To meet Self Containment Guidelines, a guideline for costs is approximately $650.00 if you already have the tanks, or approximately $1000.00 if your require tanks. We can obtain the Self Containment Certificate on your behalf or as the owner you can obtain this direct from the Motorhome and Caravan Association NZMCA.
